A Heaven-Sent Message

(I wake up in an absolute panic after a very realistic dream where I was at my best friend’s funeral. I call her to make sure she’s okay, only to get her voicemail.)

Me: “Look, you can laugh at me later, but I dreamed that you died and I need to know that you’re okay. Call me back as soon as you get this.”

(She doesn’t call me back, and shortly after I have to leave for work. On my lunch break, I check my phone to see a voicemail from my friend.)

Friend: “Press one to accept a collect call from the Great Beyond…”
