A Gloat Demote

(My wife and I trade off the chore of feeding the dogs in the early evening, but lately she has been forgetting to replace the lid on the dog food bin. Late one night, I hear the sound of the lid being closed and she comes into the room.)

Wife: “I just put the lid on dog food.”

Me: “Well, better late than never.”

Wife: “But you fed the dogs… No, wait. I fed them tonight. D***, I was in full-on gloating mode, too.”
