A Fiery Affirmative
(It’s nighttime on Independence Day and the collective show of fireworks in the neighborhood are probably visible from space. I just received a text from my sister.)
Sister: “So, see any good fireworks yet?”
Me: “The neighbors broke into the abandoned lot across the street and now they’re trying to blow up the sky. I think they’re trying to burn my house down. The people down the street, the people across the street, and the people several blocks over are apparently determined to ward off UFOs. My cat is terrified and hiding under the bed and I can’t get her to come out and the dogs are freaking out. It sounds like my backyard is being invaded by North Korea.”
Sister: “You know, you could have just said ‘yes.'”
