A Dip Into French

I had a customer bring me an article of clothing with a question about the colour. It was a black pair of men’s trousers.

Customer: “The tag says ‘hummus,’ but these trousers look black.”

I look at the tag, and it says ‘hommes,’ and the rest of the tag is in French.

Me: “Uh, ‘hummus’ is French for ‘men’s’.”

Customer: “Oh! Well, that’s silly! What do they call women, ‘Baba ghanoush’?!”
