A Cold Childhood

(It is cold outside but I’m in shorts.)

Mom: “How can you wear shorts and no socks. It’s so cold in here!”

Me: “I prefer the cold.”

Mom: “I remember when you were a baby; you were so cold. I used to feel you not moving, and thought that you had died! I screamed for help!”

(We came from a country that is very cold.)

Me: “Yeah, well, we came from a cold country. I guess I was used to it.”

Mom: “No, I think it was the fact that you only wore your dad’s shirt when you were a baby. As a diaper.”

Me: *rolls eyes* “That could have something to do with why I was so cold.”

Mom: “What? Baby clothes were too expensive!”
