(My brother and I are hanging out in the kitchen. I’m telling him about our mother, who has recently joined the world of ‘texting’.)

Me: “So she texts me back ‘LOL’. When I asked her about using ‘LOL’, she said that she knew how to use text speak.”

Brother: “So?”

Me: “It’s just weird. It’s our mom using ‘hip’ texting lingo.”

Brother: “Yeah, we should just look up the weirdest acronym on the internet and send it to her. When she asks about it, we should be like ‘Geez mom, don’t you know what that means?’”
