Calling Is Not Their Calling
(I work for a company that helps people get benefits. Part of my job is getting information about medical facilities from our clients. I am currently on the phone with a client.)
Me: “So, you are seeing a new doctor?”
Client: “Yeah, his name is Dr. [Name].”
Me: “Okay, can I get the phone number? It will be easier to look him up in the system.”
Client: “Oh, well, you’re going to have to call the doctor to get the number to call him.”
Me: “So… I need to call their office so I can get the number to call their office?”
Client: *sounding pleased that I got what she was trying to say* “Yeah!”
Me: “Okay, well, I hope you have a wonderful day!”
(I’m still not sure that she understood what she was telling me.)
