The Class Leaves You Fuming

(I am a chemistry major. My lab partner and I are known for being rather unusual; for example,we will sing duets while we wait for things to boil, and are completely klutzy about breaking glassware. We have to turn in the carbon copies of our lab notebook pages at the end of lab. We are chatting, and tearing the copies out of the notebooks, using the surface in the fume hood to stack things up on. All of a sudden, one of the pieces of paper gets too close to the back and foom! it gets sucked up into the vent.)

Lab Partner & Me: *looking at each other in slight disbelief for a moment* “Umm, [Teaching Assistant]?”

Teaching Assistant: “What is it now?”

Lab Partner: “The fume hood ate our homework.”

Teaching Assistant: *face-palms* “Just… you two… just go. I give up.”

(We left the poor man shaking his head and laughing. At least he didn’t deduct any points!)
