A Debate Worth Dying For

| Learning | October 10, 2016

(We have a debate in history class in which everyone is assigned a historical figure that they have to be for the debate. The rubric clearly states that if we were dead on the date in history on which the debate is taking place, we should not mention that we were dead. It said nothing about dying at the end of the debate.)

Teacher: *recaps the debate for about five minutes, then calls on me because my hand is raised*

Me: “Can I die now?”

Teacher: “Yes.”

(I walked to the open area in the center of the room and dramatically fell over. Another teacher observed half of our class each day because he was studying history in college. He was practically falling out of the desk laughing. I saw him later that day in the hallway and he congratulated me on my performance.)
