A Double-Sided Plot

(In the college library where I work, the printer’s default setting is double-sided, for financial and environmental reasons. If students want to print single-sided sheets, say for a presentation or photos, they need to select that setting manually. Unfortunately, despite the numerous notices posted around the computer suite about it, this has happened more than once:)

Student: *panicking* “I tried to print out my presentation, but it’s only printed out every second sheet! Look!”

Me: *turning the papers over to show the other sides* “The printer automatically prints everything double-sided.”

(The responses range from face-palming and embarrassed giggles to resentful grunts and students stomping away in a lame attempt to save face.)
