Her Argument Doesn’t Have A Leg To Stand On

| Learning | March 22, 2016

(My history teacher is very strict, and unpopular. It doesn’t matter if you’re in the room or not, if you’re not in your seat when the bell rings, she marks you as late, and hands out detention for every single late mark. I was on crutches earlier in the year due to a stress fracture and brought in a note allowing me to be late while on crutches, and after a couple of months, I’m back on crutches again courtesy of what I can only describe as a “bubble” in one of my bones. I reach the classroom door just as the bell rings.)

Teacher: “[My Name], you’re late. I’m going to have to give you detention after we let out today.”

Me: *furious* “No!”

Teacher: “Excuse me?”

Me: “No! NO! I brought a note saying I could be late when I’m on crutches, and I’m on crutches again! I had to WALK up the stairs with a HOLE in my leg to even BE here right now! I am NOT doing detention for being ten seconds late when I could have taken another ten MINUTES to get somebody to unlock the elevator for me! I’m going HOME when school lets out today!”

(I stomped to my seat and sat down, scowling. She didn’t make me serve detention.)
