Hurty Thirty

(I’m sitting next to a group of teenagers who are loudly discussing children and the right age to have them. Note that I’m in my early 30s.)

Teenager #1: “…and she said 20, but that’s way too early!”

Teenager #2: “Right. Maybe 25, but that seems a bit early, too.”

Teenager #3: “Yeah, you might be still in university or something.” *earnestly* “I think 30 is a good age. Your life is over anyway by then.”

Me: *silently to myself* “Wow, I guess I’m dead.”
