Forcing Spoilers Upon You

(My friends and I are watching ‘Star Wars Episode IV.’ They’ve seen all the films before, but it’s my first time watching a Star Wars film. As we’re watching the scene where Obi Wan explains the Force to Luke, Friend #1 starts talking about a theory from a different movie. Note that we’re watching with captions on.)

Friend #2: “What was the theory?”

Friend #1: “So, you know how Darth Sidious started as…”

(At this point, I cover my ears and continue watching the scene by reading the dialogue onscreen. I wait until after I hear them finish talking to uncover my ears.)

Friend #2: “You okay, [My Name]?”

Me: “Stop with the spoilers!”

Friend #1: “It’s just a [Social Media Website] theory. There were no spoilers.”

Me: “Dude, you guys were talking about characters I haven’t even heard of yet. I literally just learned what the Force is.”
