Unfiltered Story #27909
(My friend and I have been comparing ideas for stories we’re working on. We also both play a certain children’s card game.)
Friend: So, [Main Character] uses shadow-based magic, but he’s a good guy. I’m trying to subvert the whole ‘dark is evil’ thing.
Me: You mean like Yu-Gi-Oh?
Friend: Yeah, I- Wait, what?!
Me: [Protagonist] uses dark-type monsters like Dark Magician, but [Antagonist] uses light monsters like Blue Eyes.
Friend: HOW DID I NOT REALIZE THIS.
(A later conversation, again about his story.)
Friend: I’ve been having some serious writer’s block. Like, the beginning and the end of each ‘book’ is where the good action-y stuff is, but the middle is just boring.
Me: So, what you’re saying is, the bread is the best part of your story-sandwich, not the meat.
Friend: *stares at me for minute*
Friend: *frustrated screaming*
(He didn’t talk to me for a couple days after that.)
