(My mom and I were going to various cake shops in the area looking for a place that makes/sells nice birthday cakes. At this one, the only people there were us, the owner, and a friend of her’s. After my mom has a long discussion with the owner and repeatedly makes rude comments about how the building is hard to find, she goes over to the display window and points at one of the cakes.)

Mom: Something like this would be nice. Are the flowers on it made of gum paste?

Owner: No. Those are just the display cakes, so they’re all fake.

Mom: I know that they’re fake, but are the flowers on this made of gum paste?

(The owner’s friend starts laughing.)

Owner: …Yes.
