Unfiltered Story #67327

Unfiltered | October 11, 2016

A pair of young boys have come into my store with only a dollar to spend. They ask a few times if I can give them “samples” and eventually flat-out ask for free candy, which I refuse.

Younger boy: “Do you go to church?”

Me: “…what?”

Younger boy: “Do you go to church?”

Me: “No?”

Younger boy: “So, you don’t believe in God?”

Me: “I believe in God, I just don’t like going to church. I’d rather read the Bible myself.”

Younger boy: “Oh. You’re rich, right?”

Me: “What? No.”

Younger boy: “You’re wealthy.”

Me: “No!”

Younger boy: “You’re… poor?”

Me: “Yes.”

Younger boy: “How poor?”

Me: “I make nine hundred dollars a month. My bills are a thousand dollars a month.”

Younger boy: “Then how do you pay all your bills?”

Me: “I don’t!”

The boys both leave at this point, and I’m left wondering what they were trying to accomplish by asking me such questions.
