(This happens almost everyday at the service counter. We can look up receipts with method of payment, assuming the customer has the card, a check from the checking account if they paid with a check, or the gift card if they used a gift card.)

Customer: I’d like to make a return

(places items on desk, but no receipt in sight)

Me: Do you have a receipt or method of payment?

Customer: “No, I have a credit card.”
