Unfiltered Story #57135

Unfiltered | April 8, 2017

I’m a vegetarian (Though I eat fish) the cafeteria at my work is not exactly full of options for non meat eaters but I make do. The Chef in this conversation had to be told several times I was a vegetarian when he would try to serve me meat since “You look like you want the chicken today”. Finally however it seems to have sunk in. Last week I went in to the cafeteria to get my lunch and the chef approached me.

Chef: Why are you vegetarian?

Me: Uhhh I just am… does it really matter why?

Chef: Are you one of those “Meat is murder” types?

Me: As it happens, no. Not that it really is your business. Why do you even want to know?

Chef: Well I just want to know don’t have to be rude about it.

Me: We’ll fine if you must know meat fat makes me sick, but you shouldn’t really interrogate someone about their diet, sometimes they are vegetarian or vegan for personal reasons.

Chef: So rude. I just wanted to know.

With that he stalks off.

He still occasionally asks me if I am still vegetarian.
