Unfiltered Story #56965

Unfiltered | October 9, 2016

One day when I was younger my Aunt took me and my younger cousin to their local pool to go swimming. As we’re making our way from the changing rooms she spots an acquaintance of our hers and stops to speak to him. She tells me and my cousin to stand against the wall for a second and make sure we stand where she can see us. Not two seconds later a shocked looking female lifeguard comes charging over. She kneels next to my cousin and starts speaking to him

Lifeguard: Where is your mummy?

Me: Oh, she’s just over there (I point towards my Aunt)

The woman completely ignores me and continues looking at my cousin like something is very wrong.

Lifeguard: You can’t go in the pool without your mummy

Me: Excuse me, I’m his cousin, his mum is right over there!

The lifeguard just gives me a blank stare

Lifeguard: Let’s go find your mummy

The woman starts to try and lead my cousin away, by this point I am very frustrated.

Me: HIS MUM IS RIGHT THERE!!

My Aunt comes dashing over- she looks a little alarmed

Aunt: What’s going on?

Lifeguard: Madame, is this your son?

Aunt: Yes

Lifeguard: Madame, you should not be leaving your child unattended- its dangerous,

Aunt: He wasn’t unattended- I was stood right here and he was watching him!

Lifeguard: You shouldn’t be leaving your kids with strange boys they don’t know

Aunt: That boy was my nephew!

Me: Which I told you and you just ignored me!

Aunt: Besides I was stood two feet away from him and I instructed them to stand against the wall where I could see them clearly- can I ask why you were trying to take my son away despite the fact that my nephew was clearly telling that I was standing right here?

The lifeguard looks frustrated and embarrassed

Lifeguard: Well it’s STILL irresponsible

With that, she charged away- for the rest our time swimming the lifeguard glared at us whenever we went by her and shook her head. Needless to say, we didn’t go there again. I’m really not sure what was going- on the one hand, I understood she was doing her job, but why she completely ignored multiple times is still a mystery.
