(It’s my third week on the job in the bakery at Hakam’s and I’m closing. Part of closing is cleaning out the unpackaged buns in the showcase. I’m talking to the guy working in Meats and Seafood while I’m filling the large cart with the baskets of food)

Customer: Hi, can I get a cookie for my son?

(A store policy is to give cookies to children under 12)

Me: Yeah, for sure! One moment!

As I’m walking away from the showcase I call back to my coworker and search my brain for what I should say, and end up with

Me: Hey, keep an eye on my rack!

Now being the immature 12 year old I am, I immediately bust out laughing.

Coworker: *Laughs, obviously at me*

I give the customer’s son a cookie and head back to the showcase. Talking some more with my coworker, I’m moving panini rolls to a different basket, and accidentally drop two of them.

Me: Oh no! My bread! *thinks for a second then smirks and mutters* my buns
