Unfiltered Story #56752

Unfiltered | March 6, 2016

In the 60’s/70’s my dad was in the Navy. They’d pulled into port, and had liberty. Navy regs stated that there was a specific code of uniform (hat straight, neckerchief loose, cigarettes in your socks), My dad and a friend weren’t exactly following this, since they were on liberty, and ran into someone who had Shore Patrol as his duty station.

Shore Patrol: Straighten your hats out!

Dad and Friend *twist hats to face front*

Shore Patrol: Pull up your neckerchiefs!

Dad and Friend *tighten neckerchiefs*

Shore Patrol: Get those cigarettes out of your pockets!

Dad and Friend *put cigarettes in socks*

Shore Patrol: *harrumphs and walks away, turning back to look at them*

Dad and Friend *turn hats to the side, put cigarettes in pockets, loosen neckerchiefs*

The Shore Patrol was so mad that he had them thrown in the drunk tank.

Officer in charge of drunk tank: Why are you two here? You’re not drunk.

Dad: *explains*

Officer in charge of drunk tank: *sighs* You can go back out. But stay away from that Shore Patrol.
