Unfiltered Story #56664

Unfiltered | December 5, 2015

Me and a coworker are just returning from lunch break. We are both programmers.

To illustrate for anyone not software-affiliated: A “String” is a variable containing text, and an “Array” is a variable containing a number of simpler variables of the same type – like, for example, a few “strings”.

Me (joking): “I’m totally going to name my next array of strings ‘Copacabana’ or ‘Ipanema’.”

Coworker: “I don’t get it.”

Me: “Dude, those are beaches in Brazil.”

Coworker: “I know. Still don’t get it.”

I sit down, google a pic showing several brasilian beach beauties in very tiny bikinies (the pic is still SFW, but barely), and send this to him.

Coworker: “Oh! Now I get it.”

The kicker? He had made almost the same joke at lunch just a few minutes before, the only difference being him claiming he would name his next array of strings like [very well-known lingerie brand].
