When I was 16 I got an evening job in a supermarket as a shelf stacker, there was about 20 of us of a similar age.

Worked 6-9pm 4 nights a week.

We were provided with uniform jackets (long coats down to the knees) for both boys and girls.

A new girl started, not very bright but very nice. She had been told she had to wear the uniform and not her own clothes.
She had been working for a couple of nights when she said that it was unfair that the boys could wear their trousers under the uniform but she couldn’t wear anything. It took a few minutes to realise that she had no underwear on. When she was told that it meant no trousers or skirts she ran off very embarrassed.

Got teased about that for ages.
