I’m at a hotel for my cousin’s wedding. My family is very spread out and I don’t see many of them frequently, including my great-aunt, who is in her 80s and like a grandmother to me. We are about to head to dinner when she walks into the hotel and sees me.
Aunt: You look beautiful!
Me: Thanks!
Aunt: You’ve gained weight, but you still look beautiful.
Me:…thanks?
