(My sister and I are a year apart. Because of this, we often ate lunch together while we were in high school. Since I’m the older one, I often poke fun at her. This happens over lunch one day after I made a joke about my
sister.)

Sister’s Friend: That’s it! I can’t take this anymore!

Me: What are you talking about?

Sister’s Friend: You and (sister). I mean, what kind of man are you? All you ever do is make fun of her! And you, (sister), why are you dating him? you could easily find someone who treats you with respect.

Me: Wait, you think we’re dating?

Sister’s Friend: Yeah.

Me: (laughing) Oh my god! Did you not know she’s my sister?

Sister’s Friend: Wait, what?

Me: We’re not dating, she’s my sister.

Sister’s Friend: …
