Unfiltered Story #47903

(I had a flood in my house which resulted in me having to have a contractor come in and replace all the flooring. At this point, my house is in total disarray, only one-third of the new floors have been installed, one-third of the house has been stripped down to the subfloor, and the rest of the house still has the damaged flooring that has yet to be stripped. My mother comes over to see the progress.)

Mother: “I don’t really like that you moved the fridge there.”

Me: “It’ll be more practical there. And I think it looks just fine.”

Mother: “That dresser doesn’t look good in your kitchen.”

Me: “It’ll go back in the bedroom when the floors are finished… and I can’t wait until this is all finished and I can have a clean house again!”

Mother: “You never have been a very good house keep.”

Me: “Are you kidding? I’ve kept this house CLEAN until this. I’m actually very proud of how clean I’ve kept my house! But you seriously can’t expect it to be clean mid-construction with half of my house torn up!”

Mother: “Well just don’t quit your day job.”

(The best part is, before the flood, when my house was spotless, she informed me that she doesn’t come over to judge the cleanliness of my house… hah.)
