(This happened a few years ago when the seventh Harry Potter Movie was in theaters. I am getting ready to go see it with a few friends.)

Mom: “So you’re going to go see the seventh Harry Potter film?”

Me: “Yeah.”

Mom: “You’ve seen all of them up to this point right?”

Me: “No, I haven’t seen the sixth one. One of my friends told me they cut a lot of important plot points out so I decided to skip it.”

Mom: “But how are you going to understand what’s going on if you didn’t see the last movie?”

Me: “Um…I read the book. You were the one who took me to the last three midnight release parties.”

Mom: “Oh right. But what’s the point of going to see the movie if you’ve already read the books?”

Me: “Because I want to.”
