I work at a law office that specializes in bankruptcy. When you file bankruptcy, you need to have an accurate list of your creditors and addresses so they get proper notification of what is happening during the case. We just received notice from the court that they received returned mail for our one case and since the mail was for the main creditor in the case, we needed to get an accurate address ASAP or risk the case being dismissed.
I looked online and this company did not have their address listed anywhere and if I could find it, it was the address that was coming up insufficient. Thankfully, I had their attorney’s contact info and called to try and get the correct office.
Receptionist: How can I help you?
Me: Hi, I’m just trying to get an address for one of your clients, The name is (Company)
Receptionist: I’ve never heard of them.
Me: Well… they’re your client can you double check?
Receptionist: I think you have the wrong office. I have no knowledge of this client.
Me: I have the bankruptcy docket pulled up and you guys entered a notice of appearance on behalf of Company.
Receptionist: One moment please.
Attorney: Hi how can I help you?
Me: I’m trying to get an address for your client. It’s Company.
Attorney: And this is for what case?
Me: The Bankruptcy is for (Debtor) and the case number is X.
Attorney: And you’re who? Because we have on record the attorney for the Debtor is (my Law Office’s name). Are you also trying to enter your appearance?
Me: That is our office. I am just trying to get an address for YOUR client. The address we were given is incorrect. We are getting mail returned back and we need to know the information again for Company.
Attorney: Oh okay. Here’s their address.
Me: Yeah that’s the address we had on file. I’ll just go ahead and have mail directed to your office instead and you might want to tell your clients that the postal service isn’t delivering to them.
