Unfiltered Story #418770
Our baby daughter goes to daycare two days a week. The upside of that is that we have some extra time and that she really enjoys being there with the other kids and the daycare ladies. The downside is… well… kids at daycare or school pick up ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING.
Usually, that’s one thing, but one time…
It’s early afternoon in the weekend. I’ve been walking the dogs. I’ve had my lunch some time ago, but coming closer to home again, I suddenly feel a bit nauseous. With every step, my stomach seems to protest more. Something clearly is off. At home, I sit down for a while, drink some water and eat an apple. But around 4 PM, I look at my wife.
Me: ‘It’s not getting better. I’m gonna lie down.’
Some time goes by. The nausea calms down and goes up again, on and off. Until at some point, I realise it’s going wrong. I climb out of bed and go to the lavatory. Nothing comes out of my empty stomach, but my body is really doing it’s very best.
Wife: ‘Wow! We’ve been together for 9 years now and I have NEVER ever noticed you vomit!’
She sounds almost amused.
Me: ‘Nothing came out. Lucky I haven’t eaten for hours.’
Wife: ‘So no dinner for you? Pity. I’m gonna make me some nice quesadillas.’
Cue 1,5 hour later…
Wife: ‘I don’t feel so well either. Oh god… I shouldn’t have eaten so much.’
So that was a “nice” evening for both of us. I thought I was sick, but my wife was even worse! She threw up until deep in the night.
But most puzzling of all, while we both knew from whom we got this dreadful stomach flue, we had never seen any sign that anything was wrong with our baby girl! Lucky her, I guess?
