Unfiltered Story #418769
This happens a few years ago during the baby formula shortage. I’m working the fitting room in a big box store. Part of my job includes answering incoming calls. I receive a call.
Caller: I live in (town about 60 miles away). I need (specific type of formula) for my grandson. All the stores around here are out. Do you have any left?
I put her on hold and go to check.
Me: Yes, ma’am. We have two left.
Caller: Will you hold them for me.
I agree since she is coming from so far away. Just as I walk into the aisle, I see another customer take the last two of that type.
My phone only takes incoming calls, and O am unable to make outgoing calls, so I go to my phone to look up the number so I can call her back from the service desk phone. At this moment, another customer walks up to the fitting room to try on some clothes. I am supposed to stay at the fitting room while customers are trying on clothes, so I am unable to go to the service desk to call back the original customer for a few minutes. By the time I am able to, it sounds like she’s already in her car.
Me: Ma’am, I am so sorry. Someone else took the last two just as I was entering the aisle.
