Unfiltered Story #418440

I was standing at self-checkout, and had one customer flag me over to remove an item that accidentally got scanned twice. I had barely finished clearing the item when a woman (a word I use very loosely) stormed into the self-checkout with her full cart.

Vile Customer: *snapping her fingers at me* “You! Slave! Help me with my groceries!”

Me: *speechless*

Other Customer: *appalled* “Don’t talk to [me] like that! What the h*ll is wrong with you?!”

The Vile Customer unleashes a stream of expletives at my defender, which vaguely resembles a rant about how service/servants/slaves are all the same thing. Then she turns back to me and snaps her fingers at me repeatedly.

Vile Customer: “Why haven’t you started ringing me up yet?!”

Me: “Because you’re in self checkout, and you have to do it yourself.”

Vile Customer: “I don’t work here, SLAVE, that’s YOUR job!”

Me: *crossing my arms* “I think you nuked that bridge from orbit, lady. I’m not going to assist you.”

Vile Customer: “You’ll do it if you don’t want to be fired, you–”

Me: *softly so she HAS to focus to hear me* “Before you say your next words, consider how you would feel if someone said them to your grandchild.”

That clearly threw a wrench in her gears because it shut her up. She stared at me, and I swear I could almost smell her brain overheating as she tried to process the concept.

The manager comes at a run. Apparently, my defender went to retrieve them.

The manager sorts things out, sends me on an extra break, and deals with the Vile Customer. From what I found out later, the Vile Customer was made to leave without her groceries and was banned from our store.
