Unfiltered Story #418037

My company has decided to order new polos for everyone. One of my female coworkers – a blunt woman from outside the US – insists on ordering a men’s 3X.

Me: Are you sure? That’s going to be pretty big on you. (*I show her the size chart and convert it from US sizes to what she would use back home*)
Coworker: Yes! I do not need these *men* staring at me. If I want to wear oversized clothing to protect myself, that is *my* decision.
Me: Just so you know, these are custom so there is no changing your mind.
Coworker: I want Men’s 3X! If you argue again I will call HR!
Me: Okay, Men’s 3X it is.

I take a screenshot of this conversation and send it to HR ahead of time. They agree that she will have to deal with the Men’s 3X shirt even if it doesn’t fit. The shirts come in, everyone gets their new swag, and most people are happy. Except, of course, (Coworker).

Coworker: This is ridiculous! Why is this shirt so big? (*She throws it at me*)
Me: That is what you insisted on ordering.
Coworker: No! You must have swapped this! Get me a right shirt!
Me: (*holding out the tag*) Men’s 3X right there. Just like you wanted.
Coworker: I did not!
Me: Hang on. (*I pull up the saved screenshot of our conversation.*) This wasn’t you?
Coworker: Men’s 3X is way too big! I need just a Large!
Me: You insisted on ordering this one. I will not be placing another order because you wouldn’t listen to my suggestions.

She did follow through with her original threat of going to HR, though now she claimed I was discriminating against her because I *wanted* her to wear bigger clothing. HR came back with the original screenshot and sided with me. (Coworker) wears that 3X shirt at least twice a month and constantly complains about how unfair it is.

Oh well!
