I’m a self-checkout attendant in a grocery store. A register flags me to do an ID check for alcohol. It turns out to be one of my coworkers, still in uniform and grabbing a bottle of vodka on his way out.

Me: *joking* “Rough shift?”

Coworker: *dead serious* “You have no idea.”

Drink up, man. You’ve earned it.
