Unfiltered Story #413727
It was a weekend afternoon and I was enjoying a book, when suddenly my phone rang. It displaed an unknown number, but because it was weekend, I didn’t expect telemarketers and picked it up. Male voice started to speak and the tone of his voice sounded a bit off, but in that moment, it did not ring my bell yet.
Man: “Hello, I am your neighbor and I want to inform you that your dog left an excrement on our driveway.”
He did not sounds as any of my nearest neighbors. I answered:
Me: “Hi, this must be a some kind of mistake. For first, I live in a tower block and we don’t have a driveway. For second, I don’t own a dog or any -”
I wanted to say “- other pet capable of producing excrements on driveways” but the phone beeped furiously and a female voice started to speak. My bell finally rang – that was not a live person but a recording!
Woman: “Hello, I am your neighbor and your device is connected to our WiFi.”
I wanted to say that this is also not possible (all my devices were either wired or turned off), but before I could answer, the phone beeped again and the recording continued, this time with a more annoyed tone:
Woman: “I know that I am talking about! I have an university degree!”
And after this, the phone beeped for the third time, and the call ended, leaving me absolutely perplexed.
To this day, I am still not sure if this was a failed scam attempt, a weird joke, or something completely different, but surely it was my strangest phone call ever.
