Unfiltered Story #395845
(This happened when I was staying with my mother-in-law. My husband is a software engineer.)
Mother-in-law: Hello?
Caller: Hi there, my name is [name] I’m calling from BT Openreach about viruses on your internet.
Mother-in-law: That sounds serious, let me consult my IT team and I’ll call you back.
(She hangs up, later confirming online that BT Openreach does not call directly. The phone rings again with the same greeting)
Mother-in-law: *fed up* Look, I know you’re a scam so stop wasting your time and mine by calling this number! *Click*
(The next time I came over she had decided to no longer use a landline)
