( My boyfriend and I were 18 at the time this happened and we had been dating for about 4 years. So my mom told me that I won’t be allowed to marry my boyfriend because we have different religions. Honestly, despite the fact that I love him dearly, I didn’t want him to waste his time on a relationship that will eventually lead to a dead end. I was thinking of what I was gonna tell him when he barges into my room and hugs me. )

Boyfriend: Hey!! How’s my favorite girl doing??
Me: Hey, um, I’ve been meaning to talk to you
Boyfriend: Is something wrong? Do you want me to get something for you?
Me: No, um, I just think we should um,
Boyfriend: What happened?
Me: I think we should, um, let go of this relationship and part as friends..
Boyfriend: Is this for real? Are you seriously breaking up with me?
Me: Yes, it’s just not gonna go anywhere?
Boyfriend: I’m not leaving from here until you tell me why!
Me: My family just doesn’t approve of me marrying into another religion.
Boyfriend: That’s nonsense! If that’s the reason then there’s no way I’m gonna leave. And your doesn’t your mom love me?
Me: I guess so..
Boyfriend: Well, then, this doesn’t have to end.
Me: Well, I don’t love you.
Boyfriend: Oh, now I get it. You should’ve just told me instead of making up excuses.

( By this time we both are crying and he walks out the door. I lie down and try to sleep but I just can’t stop crying. About fifteen minutes later, he comes back in, and lies down next to me, and holds me )

Boyfriend: You know for the record, It doesn’t matter if you love me or not, I will work for it and, hopefully, you’ll love me by the end. And I don’t care what anyone thinks, If you aren’t allowed to marry into another religion. Fine, I’ll propose to you when we’re in our late 20’s, and we don’t have to have a ceremony or anything, we can just get the legal documents and no one has to know but us! I’m not sure if that’ll work but I love you, ( My name ). And love conquers all.
Me: *whispers* I love you, too,

( We’re now 22 and still together! Love really does conquer all! )
