I am out to dinner with several people from work. We all work at different sites, and I have only been in my current role for just over a year. One of them looks at me.
Him: I don’t know very much about you. Do you have a life partner? Husband?
Me: Oh, no. There’s no one willing to put up with my bullshit, so I’m forever single.
(One of the managers, who I work with quite closely, shugs)
Manager: You’re fine. It’s once you reach your thirties you should get concerned.
(I look at him and his face drops.)
Manager: Oh f***.
Me: I’m 31, (Manager). I just have a young face.
