I’m a freshman in college and I’m taking a basic biology class as part of my required learning for my degree. The class had a lab component and prior to class starting I would read funny stories from Cosmo magazine to my lab partners who enjoyed the stories. They were a little raunchy but harmless.

At the next table was a male who liked to think he was much smarter than I was because I was a girl reading trashy magazines.

This happened one day after class. I needed to speak with the teaching assistant and we had just gotten our tests back.

Snobby boy: I got a 95.

Me: That’s nice.

Snobby boy: Yeah, pretty happy with that. (Looks over and sees my paper) You got a 97?

Me: Yeah, pretty happy about that.

His jaw was on the floor when I went to go speak with the TA. Smart women can read trashy magazines too!
