Unfiltered Story #389248
*I illustrate a web comic which my friend writes. One day I’m running late with a page, so my friend puts up our placeholder image that tells readers to check back later. We’ve used this exact image for years. A few days after the weekly page is posted late, I’m chatting with my writer friend.*
Friend: “You know how our placeholder image features a static loading bar that says “Page Loading, Check Back Later” on it?”
Me: “Yeah.”
Friend: “Well, apparently one guy thought it was a real loading bar. They complained that the comic never loaded despite refreshing the page multiple times.”
Me: “…”
Friend: “Yeah, so I’ve added some text to the placeholder saying it’s not a real loading bar. ‘Cause the obviously fake loading bar wasn’t obviously fake enough.”
