Unfiltered Story #386185

My family recently attended the funeral of a neighbor. After the service, everyone gathered for refreshments and to share tales of the deceased. My father got to talking with the neighbor’s daughter.

Dad: “I remember when your parents had their first fight. They hadn’t been married long when they got into an argument about something. I don’t remember what, but your father got so mad he had to leave the house. So he was standing around outside, furious. He saw your mother’s car. Thought to himself “I’ll show her!” He opened the hood, disconnected the starter wires, and closed the hood.
“A little while later your mother came out of the house to run some errands. She got in the car, tried to start it, and nothing happened. Your father sat there watching, looking smug. Well, your mom got out of the car, opened the hood, fiddled about for a bit, then got back in, cranked it up, and drove off to town. She’d put those starter wires back on all by herself. Your father didn’t pull any more stunts like that.”

The grieving daughter got a laugh out of the story. She’d never heard it before, and seemed to appreciate the tale of how her mother showed her father that she wasn’t some helpless housewife.
