Unfiltered Story #375066

I dated a guy back in college when I was 19 and he was 25. He wanted to settle down and get married, I wasn’t ready. Ultimately we broke up because of this incompatibility.
I’m now 35 and married. I haven’t seen or heard from (My Ex) for years. I started a new job at a retailer on the weekends for extra cash. A woman started coming in every weekend, we started hanging out over my meal break. I found out that she lived in my hometown, went to the same college I went to, even had the same major. That’s when I started noticing all the other similar things — the same hair cut, the same style of clothing, the same phone case. None of these things were *only* mine but the combination made me feel weird. Then she added me on Facebook. Her last name is the same as me ex’s. It’s too weird! I accepted her friend request and saw that she *was* married to my ex! I decided to figure out what the hell was going on.

Me: I don’t know if there’s an appropriate way to say this so I’m just going to do it. The fact that we are so similar and you’re married to my ex-boyfriend is f***ing bizarre. What’s going on?
(*she delayed and tried to joke but eventually caved*)
Woman: Okay, so (My Ex) told me all about you. Like, everything. And then I found out that you work at (retailer) and I had to meet you. But I’m not, like, crazy! I won’t skin you or anything. I just wanted to meet the woman who has had my husband’s heart for 15 years.
Me: You realize this is, in fact, *batshit crazy*?!
Woman: I’m not trying to steal your identity. I just wanted to know what was so great about you.
(*I’m completely freaked out and too shocked to run like I should*)
Me: Okay … please do not come to (retailer) again. I will get a restraining order if I see you again.

I left, blocked her and my ex on every platform, made all my profiles completely private, and set up cameras all over my property. I don’t know what happened to them after that but I can only hope that they both moved on.
