I have ordered an item online to be delivered to the physical store location of a chain, as this gives me free shipping and the item is not stocked at the locations near me normally. I walk in and go to the Returns counter, where an employee is standing.

Me: Is this the area for pickups?

Employee: No, you’ll have to go around to Customer Service.

There is a slight pause, as I look at the five 5-foot tall blue signs saying “Pickups Here” with arrows that point to this counter.

Employee: Yeah, the signs…

She trails off, and I thank her and walk around to Customer Service, where they did indeed process the pickup.
