My mom and I are discussing fun things that people we know are doing. At the moment, my mom is making herself a sandwich, and is thus semi-distracted while we’re having this conversation.

Me: “My friend gets to go to the Kentucky Derby this year.”
Mom: “Oh, that’ll be fun. Now, where’s that at this year?”
Me: “Mom….the Kentucky Derby?”
Mom: “Oh, right. Kentucky!”

That’s a standing joke between the two of us now. Whenever one of us says something silly in conversation with each other, or whenever I bring up Kentucky or horse racing for any reason, she’ll say, “Where’s the Kentucky Derby?” just to be funny.
