Unfiltered Story #364853
I work in IT and have ongoing problems with my in-laws and their smartphones, they are the worst users you could dread to come across. Always forgetting their passwords, refusing to note new usernames down, using old and outdated email clients that no longer have the ability to reset passwords, ignoring any given advice. They’d be far better using basic Nokia style phones instead.
The latest event happened a few days ago whilst I met up with them in a café.
Father In Law: “By the way, I can no longer use my iPhone”.
Me: “Oh, why what’s happened to it?”
Father In Law: “It’s asking me to accept terms and conditions, I don’t see why I should, they could have put anything in there. Besides, I already have a contract with the mobile company for the phone”.
Me: “But you can’t use the phone if you don’t accept the terms and conditions, it’s just something everyone has to do. It won’t affect your usage contract”.
Father In law: “Well I won’t, I don’t see why I should”.
The conversation changes and turns to talking about memories of what places they know were like years ago. My father in law is talking about one particular area but can’t remember its name.
Father In Law (To me): “I can’t remember the name of that place, but you’ve got a map on your phone don’t you? You could look it up!”
Me: “I would, but I’ve got to go in a minute” (I had to meet up with my wife to show her where to park the car). “But you know what ‘father in law’, If you accepted your terms and conditions you could look it up yourself on your phone!”.
Mother In Law: (Laughing) “Touche!”
