*Working in a cell phone store helping a customer to change her rate plan and buy a new phone*
Side note: this same customer had been in Earlier in the day telling us about how much better [competition] is then us. I gave her a quote for a new plan and a new phone she asked for. She left and came back later that day and this happened…
Me: (going over everything again) do you have automatic payment set up ?
Customer: no
Me: okay just so you know it’s [higher cost] more a line without auto pay. Would you like me to help set that up for you?
Customer: why would you give me a quote with auto pay? I don’t use that and never will
Me: the rates show auto pay because that’s what I guess they figure most people will use and it makes billing easier.
Customer: (looking angry and annoyed) well I don’t. Why would you show me that rate!!
(the rate sheets are printed with auto pay on [company] letter head, I didn’t make the quote sheet)
Me: well no problem I can update that rate quote for you. *adds ten dollars to the quote labeled “$[higher cost] -no auto pay”.
Customer: stop being smart with me…you think your so smart. I don’t like the way you wrote that…you wrote it in sassy way!
Me: not being smart just trying to make sure you know all the details
Customer: you’re acting so smart…take it all back I don’t want it anymore. I’ll go somewhere else!
Me: again not being smart and if your going to verbally harass me I can’t help you. Bye! Have a good day! *walking away, calling Manager over to talk to her*.
