Unfiltered Story #364283
The administration has announced that there’s going to be an active shooter drill at the middle school where my husband works. Teaching is his second career — he retired after 23 years as a Marine (mostly in the infantry). Naturally, I am a little concerned that his combat instincts will kick in, but he swears that he will remain seated and with his arms folded for the entire time.
I should have known better; no way is he going to remain passive when an armed intruder threatens his class. Sure enough, I find out later that when the “shooter” burst through the door, husband grabbed a chair and only just checked his swing in time to keep him from braining the guy with it.
Me: You promised me you were going to stay sitting down and not do anything!
He: (sheepishly) I got caught up in the moment.
