Unfiltered Story #363820
Everyone hated our AP Language Arts teacher our junior year of high school. She always came up with the most ridiculous reasons to take points off assignments. She assigned an essay to the class where we had to use modern examples. I submitted my essay citing Jane Goodall and the Amish culture. This teacher marked down my paper severely because these aren’t modern examples. She refused to change my grade when I pointed out that Jane Goodall was not only alive, but still actively engaging in research (at the time) and the Amish culture was still present today.
She went on to tell me that if I couldn’t learn what the definition of modern was and how to follow directions I would never pass the AP exam or finish college. I really wish I could see her today to tell her not only did I pass my AP exam, it meant I didn’t have to take any English or Composition classes in college. Also, not only did I finish college, I went on to get my Master’s degree.
