Unfiltered Story #363807
In high school, one semester we had a class called “Art and Technology” which had three “rotations” throughout the semester. When our art teacher had the rotation he had us take apart old electronic devices and use the parts to build robot sculptures. A friend and I pair up, and we get to work on dismantling an old VCR. At first I help, but after a while I start getting paranoid that we’ll find a dead bug inside and have to stop because I have a severe phobia of bugs.
Sure enough, my friend announces he’s found a dead spider in there. Some other kids crowd around it but I obviously never go over to look. Later that same period I’m busy working on some other classwork, when my friend comes over and holds an empty tissue out next to me with two words:
“Dead spider.”
Cue high-pitched scream and my teacher briefly freaking out thinking something awful had happened. For the record, my friend had already thrown the spider’s corpse away and had brought over an empty tissue as a prank, not expecting me to actually scream. I found my own reaction pretty funny (and I still do), and later heard from a friend in another class that they’d heard me scream.
