Unfiltered Story #363492
My wife and I live her parents, since I’ve been unable to work due to a medical condition, and we had to sell our house to stay afloat. We also have two cats, one of which is getting on in years, and really feels the cold. Consequently we have to make up 6 hot water bottles for the cat beds each night so that he can be comfortable. This happened this week, when my mother-in-law is feeling sick
Mother-in-law: “I guess I’ll have to do all these hot water bottles, even though I’m sick.”
Me: “If you do the ones for your room, I’ll do all the rest”
Mother-in-law: “No, it’s okay, I’ll do them”
I go off and do something else, until everyone heads to bed for the night. While my wife is saying goodnight to her mother, I hear the sound of complaints being made, so I ask my wife about it:
Me: “Did I hear your mum complaining about something before?”
Wife: “Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t you offer to fill the hot water bottles, and Mum told you she’d do them?”
Me: Yeah, that’s right”
Wife: “I thought so. Mum just blasted me about how lazy you are, and how you were just messing around instead of filling the hot water bottles.”
