Classmate I don’t know very well: “[My name], what do you think about [ongoing nationally reported murder trial]?”
Me:”Oh, I haven’t been fallowing it.”
Classmate:”But do you think she did it?”
Me: “I don’t know. I haven’t been paying any attention to it.”
Classmate: “But do you think she did it?”
(Wash, rinse, and repeat at least three more times, even after I explain that I don’t even know who she’s accused of killing, when it supposedly happened, or their relationship.)
Classmate: “DO YOU THINK SHE IS GUILTY OR NOT?!”
Me: (Completely fed up at this point) “Is she an American citizen?”
Classmate:”What?…Um,…Yes.”
Me: “Then I believe she is innocent until guilty in a court of law. Now please just leave me alone!”
(She did)
